Arnis, also known as Kali or Eskrima. The three are roughly interchangeable umbrella terms for the traditional
martial arts of the Philippines (“Filipino Martial Arts,” or FMA)
Philip Gelinas began his training in the Filipino Martial Arts in 1981. He has been elevated to the rank of Mandala-Tuhon, 12 Hagdan
by Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje and is a Full Instructor in FMA under Guro Dan Inosanto. He also holds the rank of teacher in DBMA.
The Team Sled Dog is a group of like-minded individuals who train in Filipino martial arts (FMA or “Kali”) under the banner
of Tuhon Philip “Sled Dog” Gelinas.
Come discover and study the world renowned style of Pekiti Tirsia Kali. Experiment, test your techniques
and find your approach and strategy in a friendly, constructive and controlled environment.
Those workshops can be offered in Montreal but also at your local school. The content of these seminars can vary,
depending on what you wish your group to work on. Instructors seminars are also offered.
Contrary to regular kali group classes, you are in an environment where the instructor can focus solely on what you wish and need
to develop, fine-tune/correct or improve, be it a particular set of flow drills, a specific set of combinations (seguidas) or fighting skills.
We encourage our students to examine contact sparring, making them aware of the harsh realities and
pressures of fights and pain, as Tuhon Gelinas did when he began his training.
